I agree💯💯 It’s just that her fans need to get out more in the world because they claim she’s THEE hands down greatest drummer. Senri is one of the greatest soloers in the world but soloing is not all that makes the worlds best drummers. She’s often way too chopsy and in rush to fill every space. Also she certainly is not phenomenal at establishing that deep pocket and groove. Those are her holes “hands down!”
Mic choice or mic placement (too far away) on the high hat results in only the loudest strikes being audible. Listen at 00:50 I see the tips of the sticks striking but most of what Senri is playing can't be heard. The high hat foot open/close at 1:00 are also inaudible. Same issue at 1:20 only the accented strikes are audible. (Listening with Sony MDR-7506 headphones which have exceptional, high end frequency response.)
@@chelollo: My comment had nothing to do with Senri's playing, it is fantastic as always, but was that the engineer was unaware or inattentive to the intricacies of her high hat work. The solution would be to EQ the high hat with a high-pass filter at ~1kHz and place the mic closer to the source., e.g., the edge of the high hat. I'm not sure what microphone was used but the best mic for high hat is the Audio Technica AT4051b
